Alice Bag's New Album 'Blueprint' Out Today, Unleashes Video for 'Invisible'

Today, legendary punk rock singer, musician, author, educator and feminist archivist Alice Bag released her second full-length solo album, Blueprint, on Don Giovanni Records. Tidal debuted the Marisol Baltierra-created video for "Invisible" yesterday, a song about being the opposite of an active agent in this world.

Blueprint - which streamed a week early on NPR First Listen - comes on the heels of Bag's "77" video featuring Kathleen Hanna, Shirley Manson, Allison Wolfe and Seth Bogartand the empowering Spanish language single "Se Cree Joven" -- which translates to "she thinks she's young" -- that debuted on NYLON Español.

Based in Los Angeles, Bag was lead singer and co-founder of The Bags -- who were among the first wave of punk bands to emerge from that city during in the mid-1970's -- and also performed in Castration Squad, Cholita, and Las Tres. This new album features an all-star roster of guest vocalists, including Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, The Julie Ruin), Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile, Sex Stains), Francisca Valenzuela, Teri Gender Bender, and Martin Sorrondeguy (Los Crudos, Limp Wrist).

The title "Blueprint" is a nod to the process of construction -- of a home, a life, the world -- and the problems that pop up mid-build. The songs often find their inspiration in real-life moments that caused Bag to take stock and assess her own blueprint-- to take a stand or fix a problem: personal, political, or both. "We're all constantly building structures of many different kinds," explains Bag. "So, it's up to to us keep things on track and moving in the direction we want to see them go. Otherwise, we end up with an idiot in charge." Revered for her searing lyrics and fiery performance, Alice Bag will make appearances at Amoeba Music, The Echo, Museum of Latin American Art, Ladyfest and more - full tour dates here and below:
