Discussing his affection for the classic and controversial musical by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents based on William Shakespeare's tragedy ROMEO & JULIET, Spielberg shared of his enthusiasm for the proposed project, "You know something? WEST SIDE STORY is one of my favorite Broadway musicals and one of the greatest pieces of musical literature."

Elaborating, Spielberg shared, "My goodness, one of the greatest scores and some of the greatest lyrics ever written for a musical."

Amusingly, segment seat-mate and current producing collaborator Oprah Winfrey animatedly agreed.

Asked point-blank if he is considering filming it in the near future, Spielberg concluded, "Let's put it this way: it's on my mind."
