Snowdays, which introduced shaved cream to New York City in 2014 as an intriguing cross between the light fluffiness of Asian shaved ice and the richness of all-American ice cream, opened its first Brooklyn location on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 214 Flatbush Avenue, kitty-corner to the Barclays Center. The new 35-seat space, 980 square foot space signals the evolution of Snowdays into a dessert café serving warm sweet treats - such as a selection of specialty hot chocolates, whole matcha brownies (their crumbled brethren being a bestselling shaved cream topping) and a condensed milk brioche toast - along with Intelligentsia Coffee, in addition to its unique signature frozen confection with its titillating cotton candy like dissolve-on-your-tongue texture.

Dubbed Snowdays Café, the new Brooklyn location will be a prototype for the chainlet's future shops and serve as the brand's flagship. Its dessert café menu and some eye-catching decorative elements like the wall-mounted vintage Red Flyer sled named emblazoned with "Snowdays" will be installed in the city's four other existing shops by the end of March.

"We're expanding our menu to encompass a high-quality coffee program and a variety of house made desserts that are in line with our brand," states Tony Quach, Snowdays' founder and owner. "To accommodate this expanded dessert culture, the new Brooklyn Snowdays - our largest shop yet - will have more of a cafe feel. It will be a cool place to grab a coffee and dessert and hang out."

The new Snowdays Café also offers a cereal bar featuring a number of childhood favorites, including Cap'n Crunch, Lucky Charms and Honey Bunches of Oats complemented by an array of toppings ranging from fresh fruit to Oreos and, of course, a choice of locally sourced milks. The cereal bar not only taps into the breakfast-all-day trend, but adds to the sense of nostalgia and whimsical fun that are Snowdays hallmarks. They're further enhanced at the Brooklyn location with the bleacher seating at the rear entrance on Bergen Street overlooking the floor-to-ceiling glass garage door which will be in a constant state of raised during the warm months of cream season.

Located at 214 Flatbush Avenue, on Brooklyn's burgeoning new "restaurant row" near the Barclays Center, Snowdays Café will be open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. For more information, call 347-294-0267 or visit www.snowdaysnyc.com.

About Snowdays

Snowdays brought shaved cream, formerly a West Coast based treat, to New York City in 2014 at the original East Village shop. With the opening of the Brooklyn location there will be five brick-and-mortar Snowdays and one seasonal cart in the city. All serve Snowdays signature shaved cream made in small batches from a proprietary recipe developed by founder / owner Tony Quach, which uses premium quality organic local dairy and seasonal ingredients to yield a variety of flavors inspired by the diversity of New York City. In addition to its dessert cafes, Snowdays operates a thriving catering business that delivers the brand's experience, complete with shaver producing each serving individually, to events for 50 to 500.
