Valencia College will hold its annual Spring Dance Concert on March 22 and 23, 2019, featuring the work of guest choreographers and inviting guest artists to perform alongside student dancers at the college's East Campus Performing Arts Center.

This year the concert features "3 Epitaphs," a modern dance classic by renowned American choreographer Paul Taylor, who passed away in August 2018. It will be restaged by Francine Huber Mourad, a former member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. "3 Epitaphs" is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. To learn more about the National Endowment for the Arts grants, and their impact on individuals and communities, visit www.arts.gov.

In addition to the Taylor piece, the concert welcomes "To Have and To Hold" back to the stage, a modern work choreographed by Minnesota-based contemporary dance company Shapiro & Smith. First performed by Valencia dancers in 2009, it will be restaged this year by Laura Selle Virtucio, who teaches dance at the University of Minnesota.

The spring concert will close with "Fused by 8," a piece in the jazz-modern style created by returning guest choreographer Jon Lehrer. Fusing classical ballet with hyper-physical movement, this portion of the program promises a highly technical display of athleticism and virtuosity. This is Valencia College's eighth year collaborating with Jon Lehrer.

Ticket prices are $12 for the general public and $10 for military, senior citizens and Valencia College employees and alumni. Current Valencia College students will be admitted free with a current Valencia College ID. Tickets are $6 for children ages 12 and under.

For more information, visit www.valenciacollege.edu/arts or call the box office at 407-582-2900. Valencia College's East Campus is located at 701 N. Econlockhatchee Trail in Orlando.
