ODYSSEA'S FAMILY TREE to be Presented at Orlando Fringe 35

Project no.19 Performance Company will present Odyssea’s Family Tree at the Orlando International Fringe Festival this May at the Orange Venue inside Orlando Shakes. Directed by Max Pinsky, the contemporary dance and pole performance piece follows Odyssea Siren as they uncover stories of struggle, heartbreak, and survival hidden within their family history. Odyssea’s Family Tree will run on select dates from May 14–24.

"There is a sensuality of our show that comes from more than just the pole in the center of the stage," Director Max Pinsky says of Project no.19 Performance Company's latest production of Odyssea's Family Tree coming to Orlando Fringe this May. "The audience has no choice but to be moved by the emotional vulnerability that each of the athletes in our cast exudes when they take the stage."

The cast of eight is comprised, in part, of past and current Pole Sport Organization title winners (both gold and silver medals), which holds its national competition here in Orlando annually. However, the real beauty of Family Tree is discovered in its use of contemporary dance, rather than the more exotic stylings most audience members might think of when they hear the phrase "pole dance."

Family Tree is a bit of a side-step from Project no.19's usual fare, which typically specializes in renovations of Ancient Classics like Prometheus Bound (2025), Phaedra (2024), and Lysistrata (2023). While not necessarily a Greco-Roman tragedy, the show's story is certainly reflected in the name of the title character. The story follows Odyssea Siren in their quest to discover the root of the misfortune in their life by looking back on their family album. Upon opening it, they find a bundle of letters written by relatives across their family tree, and as they read, the stories of struggle and heartache take on a life of their own to become a new place of strength.

Odyssea's Family Tree is produced by Project no.19 Performance Company, sponsored by Dandelion Fitness, at the Orlando International Fringe Festival in the Orange Venue on select dates: May 14th 6:40pm, May 17th 5:15pm, May 23rd 8:30pm, & May 24th 1:30pm.
