The count down has started for this year's Culture Night, the annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts, which takes place on Friday, 22nd September. An opportunity to explore your local area as arts, cultural organisations, and venues of all shapes and sizes around Cork County, will extend their opening hours until late, to allow people to explore special events, art, music and performances. Exciting events, tours, talks and workshops are specifically programmed at participating locations, and everything is available FREE OF CHARGE.

.

There's plenty to choose in the extensive Cork County Programme, and here's a taster of what to expect around Cork County: Cork County Hall, a lively hub of activity each year, will host a jam-packed evening of Culture Night events: find locally made treasures at the Cork Craft & Design Market; explore diary writing in workshops with memoirist, Alice Carey; delight kids and kids at heart with Dowtcha Puppets' Listen Janey Mac, Arran Towers' The Tallest Smallest Circus Show, and balloon art from Aaron the Balloon Man; chill out to jazz trio Filology with poet Bernadette Gallagher; and enjoy readings from award-winning bilingual poet Doireann Ní Ghríofa, while artist Hazel Hurley illustrates your view from the 17th floor.

From Mitchelstown to Mizen Head, expect global culture, fabulous food and entertainment at the new Culture Dome in Clonakilty, live music from the likes of Steve Poltz in Ballydehob, history talks on Whiddy Island, global stories in Carrigaline, surrealist art in Killeagh, film screenings in Mitchelstown, photography exhibtions, storytelling, workshops and brass bands... All this, and so much more. For full Culture Night listings in Cork County visit www.culturenightcorkcounty.ie.
