(4/4/2017) - The New York Philharmonic returned to London, its every-other-year home and the seventh stop on the EUROPE / SPRING 2017 tour. There, the Orchestra performed adventurous concerts as part of its third residency at the Barbican Centre under the auspices of its International Associates initiative. Highlights included Yo-Yo Ma in Composer-in-Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen's new Cello Concerto, John Adams with the New York Philharmonic String Quartet, and the first-ever Very Young People's Concert abroad.

(12/16/2016) - Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic performed a historic concert at the United Nations yesterday, paying tribute to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the conclusion of his ten-year term and welcoming his successor, Antonio Guterres. The concert in the UN General Assembly Hall - the Philharmonic's 13th in collaboration with the UN - was attended by UN delegates, UN staff, and cultural ambassadors, and featured Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, spotlighting Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill.

The opening night festivities are distinguished by San Francisco Opera Guild's glamorous Opera Ball 2016: La Revolution et L'Amour and BRAVO! Club's Annual Opening Night Gala. The opening of the Company's 94th season also marks the beginning of Matthew Shilvock's inaugural season as General Director. Shilvock is the seventh General Director in the Company's history.

(7/12/2016) - The New York Philharmonic has completed its second annual Shanghai performance residency, July 2-8, part of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy and Residency Partnership, a cornerstone and founding component of the New York Philharmonic Global Academy. The week of concerts and coachings wrapped up with violinist Gil Shaham and Philharmonic cellists in the solo spotlight, Chaplin's City Lights screened with the score performed live, Very Young Composers, a side-by-side rehearsal with Shanghai Orchestra Academy students, and seminars, workshops, lessons, and coachings led by Philharmonic musicians and administration.

(4/9/2016) - On April 8, 2016, at 8:00PM, The New York Pops took center stage at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in The Music of John Williams: From Spielberg to Star Wars. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke lead the orchestra in a celebration of the work of legendary film composer John Williams, with a strong focus on his collaborations with Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg. The orchestra breathed life into some of cinema's most iconic scores, including selections from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jurassic Park. The concert also included a look at Williams' seminal scoring of the Star Wars films, from their beginnings in the 1970s to today's The Force Awakens.
