The 92nd Street Y, New York will present Brentano String Quartet at Kaufmann Concert Hall on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 7:30 PM. Tickets start at $45 in-person and $25 to livestream and are available now.

The Brentano String Quartet has been at the forefront of American chamber music for more than three decades, hailed for their ingenuity and interpretative style. The ensemble returns to The 92nd Street Y's stage for their first performance since 2019, with music demonstrating their mastery across a broad range of the string quartet repertoire.

Brentano will open their program with Haydn's C-Major Quartet, Op. 54, No. 2, featuring some of the composer's most inspired quartet writing. Reflecting the group's characteristically thoughtful programming, they follow Haydn with a modern masterwork - Bartók's innovative String Quartet No. 4 - pulling the listener forward nearly 150 years, illustrating the evolution of the form. The program closes with a late Dvořák piece, the G-Major String Quartet, Op. 106.

Program:

BRENTANO STRING QUARTET

Mark Steinberg, violin

Serena Canin, violin

Misha Amory, viola

Nina Lee, cello

FRANZ Joseph Haydn String Quartet in C Major, Op. 54, No. 2, Hob. III:57

BÉLA BARTÓK String Quartet No. 4, Sz. 91

ANTONÍN DVOŘÁK String Quartet No. 13 in G Major, Op. 106, B. 192
