Brentano will open their program with Haydn's C-Major Quartet, Op. 54, No. 2, featuring some of the composer's most inspired quartet writing. Reflecting the group's characteristically thoughtful programming, they follow Haydn with a modern masterwork - Bartók's innovative String Quartet No. 4 - pulling the listener forward nearly 150 years, illustrating the evolution of the form. The program closes with a late Dvořák piece, the G-Major String Quartet, Op. 106.
