Scottish Dance is Celebrated in 25th Anniversary Gala Weekend September 18

A vast repertoire of Scottish music, from the 17th Century to today, will be explored by three classically trained musicians during the 25th Anniversary Gala Concert Workshop Weekend in Santa Fe being produced by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society of New Mexico.

Pianist Muriel Johnston, from British Columbia and Fiddler Keith Smith, from Sterling Scotland, and Piper Paul Langan, will perform on Friday, September 18th, at 8pm at the Scottish Rite Center in Santa Fe.

Johnstone, Smith and Langan will take you on a journey through Scotland's rich heritage of music, old and new. Muriel and Keith are well known and esteemed by Scottish dancers and musicians, playing for dances and teaching workshops around the world. Muriel has been rightly described as "A keeper of the Scottish tradition" and Keith is best known for his interpretation of Scottish fiddle music. In concert, they will explore not only traditional jigs and reels, but the vast repertoire of Scottish music.

The event is part of Santa Fe's 400th Anniversary Celebration and includes a two Saturday morning classes, a musicians workshops and a grand march. The weekend event is $140 or $120 without the concert.
