PSO to Host Westminster Symphonic Choir's Joe Miller for Chat on Choir Life, Touring and More ImageOn Wednesday, September 13 at 7 pm, in partnership with the Princeton Public Library, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents a discussion on choir life, touring, and performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Westminster Symphonic Choir's Joe Miller and PSO Music Director Rossen Milanov.

Mr. Miller will give a whirlwind tour of the choirs 82-year history of orchestral performances, complete with historic photos and recordings. Two choir members will share behind-the-scenes anecdotes about keeping up with academic studies, friends, and family while on tour. Soundtracks is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.

Joe Miller is conductor of the Westminster Symphonic Choir and the Westminster Choir. He is also director of choral activities at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. In addition to his responsibilities at Westminster, Dr. Miller is artistic director for choral activities for the renowned Spoleto Festival USA.

Rossen Milanov was appointed music director of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra in 2009. He is an internationally renowned conductor with an impressive pedigree, coming to the PSO from The Philadelphia Orchestra. He also leads the Columbus and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestras, and Orquestra Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias in Spain.

The Westminster Symphonic Choir will be perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture at the Princeton Symphony Orchestra's September 16 and 17 Beethoven's 9th concert at Richardson Auditorium under the direction of Rossen Milanov; tickets available at princetonsymphony.org.

The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is a cultural centerpiece of the Princeton community and one of New Jersey's finest music organizations, a position established through performances of beloved masterworks, innovative music by living composers, and an extensive network of educational programs offered to area students free of charge. Led by Music Director Rossen Milanov, the PSO presents orchestral, pops, and chamber music programs of the highest artistic quality, supported by lectures and related events that supplement the concert experience. Through PSO BRAVO!, the orchestra produces wide-reaching and impactful education programs in partnership with local schools and arts organizations that culminate in students attending a live orchestral performance. The PSO receives considerable support from the Princeton community and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, regularly garnering NJSCA's highest honor. Recognition of engaging residencies and concerts has come from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the PSO's commitment to new music has been acknowledged with an ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming and a Copland Fund Award. The only independent, professional orchestra to make its home in Princeton, the PSO performs at historic Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University.
