Local Classical and Opera Companies Continue to Innovate in 2014

According to a recent post in D Magazine, local classical music groups and opera companies are continuing to thrive and innovate.

Dallas Opera is is featuring not only their standard repertoire, but is also presenting past and new works. In addition, Ft. Worth Opera is focusing solely on opera productions in the once shared Bass Performance Hall for three weeks every spring. Both are striving to bring new names, faces, and voices to the region to offer a voice to opera in a national scene.

The Dallas Chamber Symphony will be a presenter of silent film with live orchestral accompaniment, and the Orchestra of New Spain and the Dallas Bach Society will offer masterpieces from the baroque.

The Fort Worth Symphony will continue to offer works by living composers and will also dig up forgotten repertoire.
