ATTEMPT TO FLY Playing at National Theatre 1/31 - 3/21

ATTEMPT TO FLY is playing from January 31st to March 21st, 2019 at the National Theatre in Bulgaria.

40 years later, the masterpiece of Yordan Radichkov - "EXPERIENCY OF AIRING" is again on the stage of the National Theater, and again created by a starring company of actors.

Everything in this funny-dramatic story begins with the appearance of a ... wandering balloon torn off the fronts of the Second World War, which suddenly appears over the Avram neighborhoods. This event leads to the formation of three groups of peasants who start pursuing the balloon. The images of the pursuers are more than colorful: Dascal Kiro, Hadji Avram, Petletto, Iliko, Matthew Nicholas, Avram the Shuttle, the Igo, Paul, Peter, Avramovitsa, Avramcheto, Babina Dusica.

Interestingly, one of the actors in the show - Georgi Mamalev, participated in the first performance of "Experience of Flying" in the National Theater in 1979, but in another role.

For his play Radichkov writes: "The events also include: a kite for children; flea; a tamed crow with the name Momo; angels who carry the soul of a dead man from the Avram neighborhoods; a group of Wallachian with gusset tweeters; a group of Serbs with Arnaut pirate and cheers: "Yehbeh him, my God and my God!"; a group of Greeks performing a sad melody of stringed instruments; a group of Turks with the Hodja, with zurli and mananeta, separately the dust that they raise. These four groups must symbolize the Balkans, who do not remain indifferent to the wandering balloon. They will only be audible, with one melody changing the other. The highest in the Balkans is our group of persecutors, as we are in the very center of the peninsula. As we are in the Balkans, we will also resort to echo help. The air currents in the mountains are almost always ascending: if we blow a feather feather, it will go up to the sky, if we let a kite go up, if we blow a dandelion, its soft parachutes will rise upwards. The Balkans are the dwellings of the eagles inhabiting flying ideas, where the spirit of man hovers high in the clouds, and each of the characters is at least once in a dream.

This chronicle has the modest task of showing how, from real events, commonality creates myths. All myths are created by the commonwealth, a mixture of imagination and ignorance, and a constant dream to break away from miserable and despised earthly life. By illuminating and warming through the human soul, the despised and miserable life begins to sound almost balladic and shines with pure human light. "
