Road Less Traveled Productions' Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop announces a special staged reading of Den Of Thieves, the first produced work by RLTP's 2011 American Theatre Master Stephen Adly Guirgis.

The reading will star John Fredo, Lou Colaiacovo, Greg Howze, Sarielys Matos, Bethany Sparacio, Luke Wager, and Don Gervasi. NPW Director Kyle LoConti will direct the evening, to be presented on two consecutive nights: Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August 14, at the Road Less Traveled Theater at the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre. Showtime is 7:30PM for both evenings.

Mr. Guirgis is set to attend RLTP's Spring Gala in May of 2011, to coincide with RLTP's production of his play The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot, which opens April 22, 2010.

"Kyle and I wanted to give WNY a little preview of Mr. Guirgis' work," said Jon Elston, NPW Moderator and RLTP's Literary Manager and Resident Playwright. "Stephen has a wild, dark, and very irreverent sense of humor, and Den Of Thieves, his earliest play and one of his funniest, is a great primer for the much more complex and tragic Judas Iscariot."

Den Of Thieves follows a motley crew of recovering addicts and petty crooks who hatch and attempt to execute a harebrained plan to infiltrate and rob a poorly guarded safe in a local gentleman's club. When their plan goes awry, the group falls to the mercy of a trio of colorful Mob enforcers... Elston promised that "fans of Quentin Tarantino and The Sopranos should feel right at home in this Den Of Thieves".

LoConti called Den Of Thieves her favorite Guirgis play and "a little gem - dark and deliciously funny." She added that she was very enthusiastic about the cast she'd assembled. "John Fredo is fresh from his Artie-nominated performance in RLTP's smash hit The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia? in the Spring of 2010... Greg Howze is the star of RLTP's current production of Insidious. Sarielys Matos was last seen in her Artie-nominated role in RLTP's Little Bit Of Paradise, and Bethany Sparacio just won the Artie in 2010." Mr. Colaiacovo and Mr. Wager have also recently appeared at the Road Less Traveled Theater, in Twice Around and Grenadine, respectively. "A real dream team," said LoConti.

Tickets for each performance are only $10. Proceeds underwrite tuitions for the participants of the New Play Workshop.

"RLTP wants to keep the Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop available to the public and free of charge," Elston maintained. "A ticket to Den Of Thieves not only nets you a terrific reading of an incredible play, it also helps support Western New York's growing community of playwrights!"

Den Of Thieves runs two nights only - Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August 14 at 7:30PM.

Tickets are only $10 and ONLY available at The Road Less Traveled Theater Box Office, half an hour before each reading, or by phone @ (716) 629-3069.

The Road Less Traveled Theater is located at: 639 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14205 (inside the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre).

RLTP's production of The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot will run Friday, April 22, 2011, through Sunday, May 22, 2011. Guirgis will be RLTP's fourth American Theatre Master, following a highly publicized visit by American Theatre Master (and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright) Edward Albee in May of 2010. RLTP began its annual celebration of theatre artists of stature in 2008, with acclaimed playwright and actor Eric Bogosian; the company's 2009 Master was actor James Rebhorn. Guirgis is the author of eight plays, including The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot, Jesus Hopped The ‘A' Train, Little Flower Of East Orange, In Arabia We'd All Be Kings, Our Lady Of 121st Street, Den Of Thieves, Dominica The Fat Ugly Ho, and the forthcoming The Motherfucker With The Hat. He has won the LA Drama Critics awards for Best Play and Best Writing and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival First Award; and has been nominated for Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics' Circle, and London's Lawrence Olivier awards. Mr. Guirgis is the co-Artistic Director of New York City's LAByrinth Theater Company, where most of his plays were developed and premiered in productions directed by Oscar-winning actor/director Philip Seymour Hoffman. Mr. Giurgis has also written for The Sopranos and NYPD Blue, and acted in Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche New York, Todd Solondz' Palindromes, and TV's Law And Order.
