On Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10am-5pm, Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), in partnership with New York Folklore Society, City Lore, and Tradition in Motion, will present the 6th Annual Brooklyn Folk Arts Day at New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).
Participants will have in-depth conversations with fellow artists and will skill-share to creatively solve problems facing the folk and traditional arts community. Artists, folklorists, curators, and art lovers will learn new practical skills to engage youth in cultural heritage and to promote traditions through use of new media. The day-long summit will culminate in a celebration as artists showcase their art forms and present performances. General admission tickets are $10. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Major support for BAC Folk Arts is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts with support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council. Additional support is provided by TD Bank.
