Georgy Girl The Seekers Musical at On the Boards Theatre Company

Georgy Girl The Seekers Musical makes its Queensland Premiere at the Twelfth Night Theatre from June 3rd to the 14th. This production is directed by Lyn Pelgrave and Music Directed by Robert Clarke. The show features choreography by Sarah Russo Cooper.

The quintessential Australian story of how three clean-cut young men who looked like bank tellers, and a shy cuddly girl-next-door type, left their hometown to have a go at making the big time. Georgy Girl The Seekers Musical is the story of Australia’s iconic and most internationally successful group, The Seekers. Judith, the shy, insecure, teenager with a golden voice (played by Kiana Tann) joins a folk group, The Seekers: Athol Guy the wheeler-dealer (played by Kristian Scott), Bruce Woodley the aspiring songwriter (played by Liam Waldock) and Keith Potger the cool guitarist (played by Simon Chamerlin). After finding success locally, they travel to Britain, where thanks to Athol’s marketing skills, they get a foot in the door and despite knockbacks, soon burst on to the international Pop Scene. Judith, unprepared for stardom, struggles with weight issues, to find love, and work out what her future should be. The boys just enjoy the party while musically delivering the goods. There’s laughter and tears, highs and lows. Keith marries, Bruce becomes a hit songwriter, Judith has her heart broken and Athol takes it all in his stride. Four years on, the group breaks up when Judith decides to go home and resume her solo career and marries Ron Edgeworth (played by Geoffrey Winter), the love of her life. 25 years later, in an emotional reunion, The Seekers set off on their Silver Jubilee tour. A staggering success, it turns out to be one of many. Their timeless songs included "Georgy Girl", "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World of Our Own", "The Carnival is Over" and "I am Australian."

The cast also includes Timothy Aaron Cooper as John Ashby, Samantha Paterson as Beverley Sheehan and Jacob Bentley Ballard as Eddie Jarrett. The shows features an incredible ensemble featuring: Jeremy Adams, Patrick Bischoff, Niamh Cadoo-Dagley, Connor Chadwick, Eleanor Grieve, Madeline Harper, Kate Hudson-James, Reuben Newlands, Jada Parsons and Samantha Sherrin.
