Strong is the New Pretty is a new play written by Suzie Miller and directed by Sarah Giles, charting the trailblazing formation of the AFLW from a pipe dream into a major sensation. The cast includes Lucy Bell, Amy Hack, Amy Ingram, Alex King, Amber McMahon, Tara Morice, Nyasha Ogden, and Contessa Treffone. The play traces the heartbreaking and passionate story of the organisers and players of the inaugural AFLW season, celebrating the collaborative way a group of women dreamed something into existence. This is the world premiere season, co-produced by Brisbane Festival, Sydney Theatre Company, and Trish Wadley Productions.
