Jonathan Larson’s Rent, inspired by Puccini’s La Boheme, tells the story of a year in the life of friends living the Bohemian life in New York City’s East Village. The story centers on Mark and Roger, two roommates; while a former tragedy has made Roger numb to life. Mark tries to capture it through his attempts to make a film. In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS and modern day life in one truly powerful story. Book, Music and Lyrics by Jonathan Larson, Musical arrangements by Steve Skinner, original concept /additional lyrics Billy Aronson, Musical supervision and additional arrangements Tim Weil, Dramaturg Lynn Thomson. Rent was originally produced in New York, by New York Theater Workshop and on Broadway by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, Allan S. Gordon and New York Theatre Workshop.
