Weston Friendly Society Closes Seussical the Musical! 12/4
The Weston Friendly Society proudly presents Seussical the Musical!
Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza written by Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once On This Island) who have brought to life many of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant and The Cat in the Hat.
The story centers around Horton, who finds himself faced with a double challenge - not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie LaBird.
Although Horton faces ridicule and danger, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant in a story that will make you laugh and cry. Seussical is a show the whole family is sure to love!
This production is under the direction of Kevin Baldwin, with music direction by Paul Huberdeau and David Coccia, and choreography by Melissa Sheffield. Perfomances will be November 27th & December 4th at 2:00 & 8:00, and November 28th & December 5th at 2:00 at the Horace Sears Auditorium in the Weston Town Hall.
The Weston Friendly Society (WFS) is the 2nd oldest Community Theatre in the country and is in its 126th season. WFS donates part of the proceeds from productions to local charitable causes. This season's beneficiaries are Weston Cub Scout Pack 222 (special needs boys in Weston and surrounding towns), The Waltham Public Library, The Condakes and the John Barclay Memorial Scholarship Funds to Weston Drama Workshop and the WFS drama award at Weston High School, for a graduating Senior.
