THE REMARKABLE ROOMING HOUSE OF MADAME LE MONDE Plays 9/18, 9/19 At Charlestown Working Theater

By:

The award-winning, critically-acclaimed Beau Jest Moving Theatre returns to the Charlestown Working Theater with the world premiere production of The Remarkable Rooming House of Madame Le Monde, a savage comedy by Tennessee Williams written late in his life. Teatime turns into torment, and desperation into absurd laughter. Set in a boarding house in London, a mysteriously paralyzed man named Mint moves around his attic by swinging from hooks as he prepares for tea with his old friend, Hall. A dark, disturbing tale with a sinister sense of humor, originally written to shock as part of an evening of Grand Guignol that was never produced. This memorable play is a must-see for anyone interested in the great playwright's experimental work, commissioned by the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival. Performed by Boston's renowned Beau Jest Moving Theatre, celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.

For mature audiences only. Very adult themes and language.

Beau Jest has been creating exciting and original productions in the Boston area since 1984. Their most recent show, Samurai 7.0, was nominated for an Elliot Norton Award, and their 1995 adaptation of the classic George Herriman comic strip "Krazy Kat" won a Boston Theater award for best local ensemble production. They use a vocabulary of physical theater techniques to adapt novels, movies, short stories, traditional scripts, and original concepts for the stage. Each show is developed in close collaboration with a team of actors and designers who find imaginative solutions to theatrical problems using movement, props, music, and improvisation to create theater that is compelling, fresh, and playful.

Performed by Beau Jest Moving Theatre, featuring Larry Coen, JorDan Harrison, Nick Ronan, and Lisa Tucker. Directed by Davis Robinson.

September 18 and 19, Friday and Saturday at 8pm.
