Stoneham Theatre continues the journey from last season's That Hopey Changey Thing and Sweet and Sad (which was performed at Gloucester Stage), to SORRY, the third of Richard Nelson's The Apple Family Plays, directed by Weylin Symes. Performances run from tonight, February 25, through March 13, 2016. Press Opening is Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 3:00pm.

In SORRY, Richard Nelson journeys deeper into the characters we've come to know and love in this emotional and pivotal point of his four-play series. It's Election Day 2012, and the close-knit Apple family gathers in Rhinebeck, NY once again in an act of solidarity to face putting their beloved elderly uncle into a nursing home. Though political events are an anchor in the four plays, family dynamics are on display at the heart of every discussion. With each new obstacle the Apples face, from table manners to every shade of grief, Nelson brilliantly showcases the complexities of a modern day family.

"If anything, SORRY is even more personal than the first two plays as it is intimately connected to something most of us will face at some point in our lives: how to care for an aging and infirm relative. Watching the Apple siblings struggle with the decision of how to care for their beloved Uncle is heartbreakingly familiar to many of us," shared Director/Stoneham Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes.

The all-star cast of SORRY again features Karen MacDonald* as Barbara Apple, Bill Mootos* as Richard Apple, Sarah Newhouse* as Marian Apple Platt, Laura Latreille* as Jane Apple Halls, and Joel Colodner* as the aging Uncle Benjamin Apple. "We're all so comfortable with these characters and their relationship now and even with the living room that they occupy for each show. With two shows under our belt, it really is like coming home for all of us. I think we've built a great level of trust now, in each other and in the power of Richard Nelson's wonderful writing," notes Symes.

Stoneham Theatre is pleased to announce a new collaboration with New Repertory Theatre to bring the four-play Apple Family cycle to completion. "Over the last year, local audiences have come to know and adore members of the close-knit Apple Family through the work of playwright Richard Nelson. It is therefore a great thrill that New Rep, in association with Stoneham Theatre, presents Regular Singing, the final play in Nelson's four-play cycle to begin our 2016-2017 season," said Jim Petosa, Artistic Director of New Repertory Theatre.

Stoneham Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes will be directing the same cast for Regular Singing, with the addition of Paul Melendy*, whose character appears in all of the plays except for SORRY. The scenery and props will travel between the theatres as well.
