Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) opens the first show in its 2014-15 season of new plays this week, Deirdre Girard's Reconsidering Hanna(h).

Running from September 25 to October 19, this new drama is directed by New Repertory Theatre Associate Artistic Director Bridget Kathleen O'Leary. Reconsidering Hanna(h) features Celeste Oliva as international journalist Hanna, who is struggling to cope with her husband's violent death. After accepting a seemingly tame assignment, Hanna becomes increasingly obsessed with uncovering the history of another Hannah: the infamous Hannah Duston, kidnapped by Native Americans in 1697.

Oliva is familiar to Boston audiences, most recently for her performance in Rich Girl and her IRNE-winning turn in Chinglish, both at the Lyric Stage Company. On screen Oliva can be seen delivering Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal's baby in Sex Tape, which was released earlier this year.

The production also includes local favorites Barlow Adamson, Kippy Goldfarb and Caroline Lawton.

A graduate of Boston University's M.F.A. Playwriting Program, Playwright Girard has been a playwriting fellow at New Repertory Theatre in Watertown where she developed Reconsidering Hanna(h) over the past two seasons.

A special Ground Floor Conversation with the Reconsidering Hanna(h) cast, playwright and director will take place after the 8 p.m. performance on Saturday, September 27.
