Photo Flash: Emerson College BFA 2013 Showcase at the Laurie Beechman

The Laurie Beechman theatre was filled to capacity on Monday, November 4th for the Emerson College BFA Showcase featuring the BFA Acting and BFA Musical Theatre Class of 2013. Industry professionals hoping to find new cast members for their next projects and Emerson Alumni showed up to support and welcome the talented group to show business. Melia Bensussen, Chair of the Dept of Performing Arts thanked the audience and students for their dedication to Emerson College. Scroll down for photos!

Founded in 1880, Emerson is one of the premier colleges in the United States for the study of communication and the arts. Students may choose from more than two-dozen undergraduate and graduate programs supported by state-of-the-art facilities and a nationally renowned faculty. The campus is home to WERS-FM, the first noncommercial broadcaster in Boston; the historic 1,200-seat Cutler Majestic Theatre; and Ploughshares, the award-winning literary journal for new writing. Emerson has always been at the forefront of instruction in communications and the arts. The College established one of the country's first programs in children's theatre in 1919 as well as an undergraduate program in broadcasting in 1937. Professional-level training in speech pathology and audiology was inaugurated in 1935, educational FM radio in 1949, closed circuit television in 1955, and a BFA degree in film as early as 1972. In 1980, the College created the country's first graduate program in professional writing and publishing. Today, Emerson's undergraduate and graduate students come from across the United States and 50 countries. The Emerson College main campus is Boston but in the spring of 2014 the LA Campus will open overlooking the Hollywood sign on Sunset Boulevard.

The BFA Showcase actors included: Maxwell Bennett, Carly Barnette, Brock Bivens, Hallie Brevetti, Shanae Burch, , Mitchell Canfield, Lauren Chapman, Kelly Chick, Travis Clayton, Natasha Edwards, Samantha Evans, Joseph Freeman, Abby Goldfarb, Aina Griffith, Anna Harissis, Nora Hyde, Melissa Jesser, Lily LaGravenese, Melody Madaraz, Marion Mason, Rebecca Schneebaum, and Natalie Li-TingWong. The showcase was directed by Stephen Terrell with musical direction by Jon Goldberg. The Emerson Stage staff included: David Colfer, Chelsea Parrish, Daniel Burmester and Megan Wygant.

In the audience were Emerson Alum Tony winners: Bonnie Comley, Jason Grossman, and Paul Kreppel, and Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller. Emerson Alum: Barbara Rutberg, David Basche, Michael Cyril Creighton, Maryann Cicale, Linda Corradina, and Tobie Stein. Other industry supporters in attendance were: Paul Meshejian, Leah Lane, Roger Danforth, Brianna Carlson Goodman, Stewart F. Lane, Richard LaGravenese, Alyssa Renzi, Scott LeFaber, Elliott Fox and others.
