The Ogunquit Playhouse is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Levinstein to the new position of Director of Production. Robert is a good friend to all at the Playhouse; he first came on board in 2002 as the Production Stage Manager when he fell in love with the renowned theatre, its stars, staff, and stagehands, and has returned every summer since. Robert brings a solid background in all areas of first-class musical theatre production and management. His new responsibilities include leadership of over 200 technical staff and actors and hiring of seasonal staff. He will work in collaboration with designers, directors, musical directors and the entire production team, assist Executive Artistic Director in the casting of all main stage productions, and work with Education Director and staff in the production of the Children's Theatre stage productions.

Robert spends his winter months living and working in New York City. His past credits include the Broadway shows Waiting in the Wings (with the legendary Lauren Bacall), Voices in the Dark, and Parade (Lincoln Center) and Off-Broadway as the Stage Manager for Clue: The Musical. His national tour credits include Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Camelot. Regional theatre tours include: Aida, Fame: The Musical. Robert has also been involved with Forbidden Broadway as one of their Tour Managers.

The 75th Anniversary was a landmark year for the Ogunquit Playhouse, bringing more people to its doors than any year prior. Staging the biggest Broadway shows complete with headline stars, Broadway sets and costumes and top-notch performances has helped to increase the Playhouse audience and double the season from 10 to 21 weeks in less than two years. With this magnificent growth has come many new challenges and opportunities, including the ability to restructure and expand the Playhouse staff. Everyone at the Playhouse is looking forward to working with Robert in his new role.

The Playhouse kicks off its season with a special Memorial Day weekend presentation of Forbidden Broadway, New York's longest running musical comedy revue. The sensational lineup for 2008 continues with Fiddler on the Roof (May 28-June 21), the New England premiere of the new rock n' roll musical featuring the music of Neil Sedaka, Breaking Up is Hard to Do (June 25- July 12), The Producers (July 16-August 9), My Fair Lady (August 13- September 6), and Les Miserables (September 10- October 13).
