NSMT Announces Celebrity Concert Series

 As the weather cools down, the North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) stage will heat up with more artists added to its 2008 Celebrity Concert Series.  Some of the hottest acts in the country will step into the spotlight this fall and winter at NSMT!  Audiences will be mesmerized by virtuoso string musicians, sit in on an intimate performance by a blues legend, celebrate the holidays with members of New Orleans' First Family of Funk, laugh along with blue collar comedy at its funniest, or even stroll down memory lane with some pop music icons!  NSMT's 2008 Celebrity Concert Series is sponsored by Boston Acoustics.
 
Tickets go on sale to the public on August 7th; tickets go on sale to NSMT Donors and NSMT Subscribers on August 5 and August 6, respectively.
 
"We are truly excited to add unique new acts, like Bowfire, to a fall concert line up that also includes many of  NSMT audiences' familiar favorites," said Courtney Adler, NSMT Associate Producer. "In the spirit of the season, we're also pleased to feature special holiday themed concerts. This is just the beginning -- keep an eye on our website as even more concerts will be announced later this fall."

Boz Scaggs – Tues., September 9 at 7:30 pm

Songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Boz Scaggs will present his trademark musical sound that combines rock, jazz, R&B and blues at NSMT.  One of country's most creative and original artists, he will perform a variety of songs ranging from "Lowdown," "We're All Alone" and "Harbor Lights" from his 1976 multi-platinum Silk Degrees album, as well as selections from the great American songbook from his more recent But Beautiful CD. Tickets are $60-$45.

Journey Unauthorized – Sat., September 13 at 8:00 pm

Journey Unauthorized will rock the NSMT stage with a concert tribute show that pays homage to one of the greatest rock bands of all time and transports audiences back to the 1980s to experience the group and music that defined a decade with Journey's smash hits, including "Don't Stop Believin'," "Faithfully," and "Any Way You Want It."  Tickets are $25.

Bowfire – Thurs., October 16 at  7:30 pm

Bowfire is a one-of-a-kind musical and theatrical experience which strings together show-stopping hits in a fast paced theatrically staged production (see for yourself at www.bowfire.com).  Featured on the Today Show, Bowfire features the finest lineup of fiddle and violin virtuosos ever assembled on one stage and takes audiences on a musical journey that moves seamlessly from jazz, classical, bluegrass, Celtic, rock, gypsy, world, Texas swing and Ottawa Valley and Cape Breton styles, and mixes in incredible Irish step and tap dancing and a beautiful voice.  Tickets are $40-$32.

Rick Springfield – Fri., October 17 at 8:00 pm

With over 18 million records sold worldwide and a career that spans over three decades, Rick Springfield has produced 17 Top 40 hits – with more than five in the Top 10 – including the #1 smash pop hit "Jessie's Girl."  Audiences will be singing along as Rick Springfield rocks NSMT to the rafters!  Tickets are $50-$42.

An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood – Sun., October 19 at 7:30 pm

"Whose Line Is It Anyway" cut-ups Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood will have the whole audience laughing when they return for An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood - a fully improvised evening of comedy and mayhem that revolves around audience participation and suggestions.  Tickets are $50-$37.

An Evening with B.B. King – Fri., November 28 at 8:00 pm

An Evening with B.B. King is a rare opportunity to see a music legend up close performing his signature hits "The Thrill is Gone," "Rock Me Baby," "How Blue Can You Get?" and more.  Known as the King of Blues, King has influenced and inspired musicians for over four decades with his unique sound that seamlessly blends genres, not to mention one of the world's most identifiable guitar styles. Tickets are $75-$65.

Celebrate the Holidays with Aaron Neville and his Quintet Featuring Charles Neville– Sat., November 29 at 8:00 pm

Celebrate the holidays with members of New Orleans' First Family of Funk – brothers Aaron and Charles Neville! Enjoy Aaron's soothing, soulful voice while Charles provides musical direction and plays tenor sax in the quintet for this special evening of holiday music and merriment. Tickets are $45-$37.

An Evening with Bill Engvall – Sun., November 30 at 7:30 pm

Spend An Evening with Bill Engvall, a comedic cut-up and one of the members of the Blue Collar Comedy Group (along with Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White, and Jeff Foxworthy). Known for his signature "Here's Your Sign" skit and popular TV series, Bill Engvall will have audience members laughing all night long.  Tickets are $60-$45.

Festival of Music – Tues., December 2 at 7:30 pm

Ring in the spirit of the holidays and sing along with your favorite songs and carols during A Festival of Music.  This special concert will feature performances by The North Shore Philharmonic and the NSMT Academy Ensemble; more groups will be added to the festive line up. Tickets are $25.

Neil Sedaka – Thurs., December 4 at 7:30 pm

Neil Sedaka returns to the NSMT stage! For over four decades, Sedaka's timeless standards have helped define the face of popular music and with countless hit singles and platinum and gold records. He is recognized as one of rock and pop music's legendary pioneers thanks to chart toppers like "Calendar Girl," "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," "The Diary" and "Oh! Carol." Tickets are $60-$45.
