From August 19-28, the Independent Drama Society begins its 2010-2011 season, a season of love and loathing, with PROOF, David Auburn's compelling theatrical examination of genius, family, and frailty.

PROOF will run in the Factory Theatre, 791 Tremont Street in Boston's South End. Tickets can be purchased on http://www.brownpapertickets.com for $15, at the door for $17, or for $13 for students and seniors. Show times are Thursdays at 7PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM, and Sunday at 2PM.

Directed by Chris Anton, PROOF presents a striking look at a timeless question: just how far does the apple fall from the tree? Walk the razor-thin line between genius and insanity in David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama about family and frailty. Catherine's aging father is a brilliant but unstable mathematician. As days go by, she grows more concerned for her father's sanity, and her own as well. Kate Daly and Mark Bourbeau will play Catherine and Robert In the Independent Drama Society production, which will also feature Chris Larson and Kara Manson.

For PROOF, playwright David Auburn won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and the 2001 Tony Award for Best Play. A graduate of the University of Chicago and The Juilliard School's playwriting program, Auburn has also written the plays Skyscraper and What Do You Believe About The Future?, in addition to the screenplays for the 2005 film adaptation of PROOF and the 2006 film The Lake House. In 2007, he made his directorial debut with The Girl in the Park, for which he also wrote the screenplay. He has been the recipient of the Helen Merrill Playwriting Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship.

The Independent Drama Society is a not-for-profit company dedicated to upholding the values of openness and collaboration in order to produce excellent and enjoyable theatre. Through providing the Boston community with unique and inclusive artistic opportunities, such as exclusively open call auditions and the chance direct full-scale productions, IDS seeks to involve all regardless of training or experience, and to be a home for anyone with a passion for theatre.
