The newly formed Theater, Dance & Media Concentration at Harvard University launches its second production with August Stridberg's A DREAM PLAY, adapted and directed by Daniel Kramer.

In this pared-down, politicized, and highly physical interpretation, Agnes, a daughter of the Gods, snaps through space and time, witnessing and experiencing the struggles of daily life under the American Dream - black, white, female, male, poor, rich, immigrant. Enter a non-linear world of Happiness and Shame, Discord and Harmony, Hope and Despair - Mud and Dancing.

Daniel Kramer is the Artistic Director of English National Opera, London. His credits include Tristan and Isolde starring Stewart Skelton with designs by Anish Kapoor at ENO, Pélleas et Mélisande (Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatre, Golden Mask Awards), Carmen (Vlaamse Opera and Opera North), Punch & Judy (Grand Theatre Geneva and ENO - Outstanding Achievement in Opera, South Bank Award), Bluebeard's Castle (Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatre , Golden Mask Awards, ENO). His theatre work includes Pictures from an Exhibition (Sadlers Wells and Young Vic), The Serpent (Brown/Trinity Rep) King Kong (Regent Theatre, Australia), Angles in America (Headlong, Glasgow Citizens Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith), Woyzeck (St. Ann's Warehouse); Bent starring Alan Cumming (Trafalgar Studios, West End), Prick Up Your Ears starring Matt Lucas (Comedy Theatre, West End), Hair, Woyzeck (Gate Theatre, Notting Hill), Through the Leaves starring Simon Callow & Ann Mitchell (Southwark Playhouse & Duchess Theatre, West End). Daniel is a NYC Drama League Fellow. Education: Northwestern University, Ecole de Mime Corporeal Dramatique, International School of commedia dell'arte and Circus Space. Daniel was an associate at the Gate Theatre, Notting Hill, the Young Vic and a Creative Associate at the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has also been a guest artist and visting lecturer at Harvard University,and a guest artist and professor at Brown University, New York University, Northwestern and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Upcoming: Shakespeare'sRomeo & Juliet, Rimsky-Korsakov's Sadko, Verdi's Traviata, Purcell's King Arthur.

The production features the work of a full complement of professional artists, including Set and Costume Design by Oana Botez, Lighting Design by Burke Brown, Sound Design by Tei Blow, and Properties Design by Madie Hays. The cast and several of the members of the crew and design assistants are current Harvard undergraduates and acting students from the A.R.T. Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University.

Theater, Dance & Media, chaired by Martin Puchner, Byron and Anita Wien Professor of Drama and of English and Comparative Literature, launched in October of 2015. The concentation invites students to become art makers and researchers ranging across theater, dance, and performance-based media, using Harvard's resources from the American Repertory Theater to the Dance Center and the Theatre Collection. Theater, Dance & Media aims to launch a generation of graduates who will use their experience in storytelling, performance, and media for careers inside and outside the arts.

A DREAM PLAY performs November 11-18, in Farkas Hall in the heart of Harvard Square.
