This holiday season, everyone can help donate musical instruments to public school music programs by simply sending a free musical holiday e-card from the Fidelity FutureStage® website, www.FutureStage.com. For every e-card sent, Fidelity will donate $1 towards the purchase of new instruments for school arts programs in need. There is no cost to individuals sending the holiday e-cards.

The instrument donation e-card campaign is part of Fidelity FutureStage, a community arts education initiative created by Fidelity Investments® to support and strengthen school music programs, and provide young students with opportunities to explore and develop their interests in the arts.

Through December 31, 2009, visitors to the Fidelity FutureStage website, www.FutureStage.com, can send free, personalized holiday e-cards featuring music provided by and distributed on behalf of Fidelity FutureStage partners: the Boston Pops, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and North Carolina Symphony.

"These musical holiday e-cards are a quick and easy way to send greetings to friends, colleagues and loved ones, while supporting young student musicians and public school arts programs in need at the same time," said Jennifer K. Brown, executive vice president at Fidelity. "Our hope is that 500,000 e-cards will be sent from FutureStage.com by December 31, which would mean $500,000 worth of new instruments being donated to local schools in the months to come."

Over the past three years, the Fidelity FutureStage program has donated over 925 new instruments, valued at more than $875,000, to 49 school and community programs across the country.

In collaboration with some of the country's leading orchestras, including the Boston Pops, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and North Carolina Symphony, Fidelity FutureStage provides student musicians with new instruments, additional classroom teaching support, field trips to attend symphony rehearsals and concerts, student performance opportunities and the chance to interact and learn from professional artists.
Fidelity FutureStage also works closely with The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing musical instruments to the most underserved programs. Mr. Holland's Opus evaluates and identifies the needs of schools throughout the country, helps choose programs most in need of Fidelity FutureStage donations and then facilitates the purchase and delivery of the new instruments.

About Fidelity FutureStage
Fidelity FutureStage was developed by Fidelity Investments to support music and other arts education programs in local communities. The program grew from the company's long-standing commitment to arts and culture including its support of many of the nation's leading symphonies, Broadway productions and community arts organizations. Fidelity launched the Fidelity FutureStage theater education program in New York City during the 2006-07 school year and following that success, turned its efforts to developing a complementary music initiative to support and strengthen music education in public schools. The resulting program includes the donation of new musical instruments, classroom instruction, special workshops and other opportunities to learn from professional musicians, field trips to Symphony rehearsals and concerts, and student performance opportunities.
