Cotuit Center for the Arts Hosts QUILLS Auditions, 8/6-7

Cotuit Center for the Arts is seeking 8 actors for Doug Wright's Obie Award-winning play, Quills. 

Marquis de Sade is a character that will undoubtedly divide people, some see him as a perverted, revolting creature and some see him as a slightly twisted, misunderstood genius. Either way for good or bad he is certainly a talking point and will inspire fascination or revolution in those who read about him.

Quills, although not historically correct, recounts the time the Marquis spent at Charenton Insane Asylum and the way in which the authorities sought to silence him. It is a play about censorship and freedom of speech, social conformity and the subjectiveness of good and evil. It's also, in parts, very funny (and a bit naughty).

Auditions will be held at the theater, 4404 Falmouth Rd. (Rte 28), Cotuit, MA
Saturday, August 6, 1-4pm
Sunday, August 7, 1-4pm

No appointment necessary. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. CCftA is a community theater, there is no pay for actors.

Performances will be held October 6-23, Thurs-Sat at 8pm, Sun at 2pm.

Doctor Royer-Collard, Chief Physician at the Charenton Asylum. (Male 40s/60s)
Monsieux Prouix, A celebrated architect. (Male 20s/30s)
Renee Pelagie, The grief-stricken wife of the Marquis. (Female 40s/60s)
Abbe De Coulmier, Administrator at the asylum. (Male 20s/30s)
The Marquis, The asylum's most notorious inmate. (Male 50+)
Madeleine Leclerc, The seamstress at Charenton. (Female - should be able to play 16)
Madame Royer-Collard, The doctors wife, a women of considerable appetites. (Female 20s/30s)
A Lunatic (Male any age)
