Commonwealth Shakespeare Co. Announces Lead Sponsor For OTHELLO, 7/28-9/15

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) is pleased to announce that the John W. Henry Family Foundation will be the lead sponsor for this summer's production of OTHELLO, starring Seth Gilliam as Othello and James Waterston as Iago. The production begins performances on the Boston Common on July 28 and runs through August 15. Established in 2004 the John W. Henry Family Foundation is dedicated to supporting community organizations like CSC whose work make Boston a world-class city brimming not only with excellent sports teams, but also with extraordinary arts organizations.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is Boston's annual producer of Shakespeare on The Common. CSC performances have been seen by over half a million people since the company's founding in 1996. In addition to the annual Boston Common production, CSC offers a summer "Tour of the Parks," with a Shakespeare-inspired program designed for families as well as other Shakespeare-related programming throughout the year.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, best known for its annual free performances on Boston Common, is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the works of William Shakespeare in vital and contemporary productions to the people of Boston. In addition to the annual Boston Common production, the company offers a summer "Tour of the Parks," with a Shakespeare-inspired program designed for families as well as other Shakespeare-related programming throughout the summer. Previous productions include Comedy of Errors, As You Like It, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Henry V, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, and Julius Caesar.
