The Charlestown Working Theater will remount its acclaimed production of The Odyssey for six final area performances, November 6 - 21. The Odyssey is adapted and performed by CWT Co-Directors Jennifer Johnson and John Peitso, and played last winter to sold?out audiences.

The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer's epic poem for two people traveling together in a small boat, sailing across a half-real, half imaginary landscape. "We felt that ultimately the story of "The Odyssey" was the story of two people, Odysseus and Penelope, trying to remember and return to each other. In the performance we are literally in a boat, a fifteen-foot rowboat" says Jennifer Johnson, co-creator of the performancE. Johnson and Peitso retell this tale of exile and return in fragments, using original and adapted music, text, image, and physicality "It's an adventure but it is also the intimate story of return that is as immediate today as it was thousands of years ago" continues Johnson.

"We are remounting the show because we have further developed the work, and we also want to accommodate the many people who were unable to get a ticket during the last run", says Johnson.

The Charlestown Working Theater has earned a reputation for presenting innovative and dynamic original performances by emerging and established companies. CWT has produced the work of such renowned companies as Mabou Mines (NY, NY), Double Edge Theatre (Ashfield, MA) Great Small Works (NY, NY), The Zuppa Circus (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Theatre Kranevit (Berlin, Germany), and Jola Cynkutis and Khalid Tyabji (Poland). Most recently CWT presented Beau Jest's Moving Theatre's The Remarkable Rooming House of Madame LeMonde, a world premiere by Tennessee Williams.
