Star of television, film and theater, Chad Allen, will lead the cast of the hilarious hit play, The Little Dog Laughed, at TheaterWorks, Hartford's home for contemporary theater. Chad Allen appeared as a series regular on Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Our House, My Two Dads and St. Elsewhere as well as the Donald Strachey Mysteries films on Here! TV. Broadway star Candy Buckley, and two exciting newcomers, Jeremy Jordan and Amanda Perez, are also featured in this riotous Tony-nominated comedy by Douglas Carter Beane, which runs January 25 through March 9, 2008 at TheaterWorks' chic underground venue in downtown Hartford. Audiences should note that the production contains nudity and explicit sexual content.
The Little Dog Laughed debuted Off-Broadway to sold-out houses. The show quickly moved to Broadway and scored a Tony Award nomination for Best New Play. "In this lacerating look at Hollywood morality, a barracuda in high heels, über-agent Diane (Candy Buckley) is out to land her client, Mitchell (Chad Allen) the movie role of a lifetime by any means necessary. When Mitchell starts to fall for a male escort ( Jeremy Jordan) who just happens to have a girlfriend (Amanda Perez), Diane's plans begin to unravel. The big question: can she just keep Mitchell in the closet long enough to land this make-or-break career move?" explain press notes. The Little Dog Laughed is directed by TheaterWorks' Associate Artistic Director, Rob Ruggiero. The production's design team includes Adrian W. Jones (set), David R. Zyla (costumes), Thomas Dunn (lighting) and Zachary Williamson (sound). Production manager is Michael Lenaghan.
