Cape Rep Announces 'FRANKIE AND JOHNNY' For 25th Anniversary Season
By: Charlie Piane
Cape Rep will produce Terrence McNally's Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune in June and July
Frankie and Johnny focuses on two lonely, middle-aged people whose first date ends with them tumbling into bed. Johnny is certain he has found his soul mate in Frankie. She, on the other hand, is far more cautious and disinclined to jump to conclusions. As the night unfolds, they slowly begin to reveal themselves to each other as they take tentative steps towards the possible start of a new relationship.
Official dates, casting and creative team will be announced shortly.
Frankie and Johnny is the latest addition to Cape Rep's 25th Anniversary Season. The recently opened Eurydice kicks off a season that will also include the 25th Anniversary Revival Production of Cape Rep's first show, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Founding Artistic Director Robert R. Troie in July and August. September and October brings Warren Leight's Tony Winning Best Play Side Man. The season will conclude in November and December with the Broadway Musical Comedy Smash The Drowsy Chaperone. Cape Rep will also offer its annual Children's programming in the Cape's only Outdoor Theatre. Mary Wilson's Pitter, Patter, Puppets and How I Became a Pirate will run June 29-September 2. Cape Rep will also partner with the Sea Pines Inn for the 16th Annual Broadway Musical Dinner Revue, June 20-September 5. Group rates, subscriptions and special event performances will be available throughout the season. Information is available on our newly launched website, www.caperep.org or by calling 508.896.1888.
