Berkshire Theatre Festival Presents Musical Mondays

By:

Berkshire Theatre Festival is proud to announce Musical Mondays, an exciting expansion of the popular Friday Series. This series of readings of classical musicals will take place the first three Mondays in August in the Colonial Theatre at 2pm. The series will culminate with a tribute to Richard Wilbur on August 22. The series is curated by Ralph Hammann.

The performances are free of charge. Donations, of course, will be accepted at the door. For more information contact the BTF Ticket Office at 413-298-5576 or visit www.BerkshireTheatre.org. Contact the Colonial Ticket Office at 111 South Street by calling (413) 997-4444 or online at www.TheColonialTheatre.org. The Ticket Offices are open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, Saturdays 10am-2pm or on any performance day from 10am until curtain.

These readings will feature talented actors and performers reading and singing their way through classic shows of yesteryear.

On August 1, Berkshire Theatre Festival will present a reading of Good News with book by Laurence Schwab, B.G. DeSylva and Frank Mandel, words and music by DeSylva, Brown and Henderson, new adaptation by Mark Madama and Wayne Bryan, directed by Ralph Hammann and musical direction and accompaniment by Mark Gionfriddo.

August 8 will present Take Me Along based on the Eugene O'Neill play Ah, Wilderness, with music and lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Joseph Stein and Robert Russell.

August 15 will present Strike Up the Band with a book by Morrie Ryskind, lyrics by Ira Gershwin, and music by George Gershwin

The series will finish on August 22 with a very special tribute to legend Richard Wilbur. As he will be celebrating his 90th birthday this year, we will feature selections of his work in drama, musical theater and poetry. Wilbur, a Pulitzer Prize winning author, has worked with the likes of Leonard Bernstein and translated the works of Moliere. Join us as we honor this leading light of letters. The media sponsor for this event is Metroland.
