Berkshire Theatre Festival Celebrates St Patrick's Day

By:

We're turning the spotlight on the Emerald Isle this Sunday with "Stories for a Sunday Afternoon." The Irish, long known for their love of tales, both long and tall, have contributed a wealth of material to the literary world. This week, in honor of St. Patrick's Day, local Kevin O' Hara will be on the Unicorn Stage reading from his own works about Ireland.

Kevin O'Hara is a Pittsfield native and longtime freelancer for The Berkshire Eagle. He will be reading from two of his books with Irish themes: Last of the Donkey Pilgrims, which chronicles his eight-month, 1,700 mile journey along the coast of Ireland with a donkey in 1979, and A Lucky Irish Lad, a humorous collection of short stories that span from his breeched birth in England to coming home from Vietnam - with a goodly amount of adventures in-between.

Both Library Journal and the Christian Science Monitor consider Last of the Donkey Pilgrims, one of the finest books about contemporary Ireland ever written, and A Lucky Irish Lad, was touted as a "tour de force," by New York Times bestselling author Patrick Taylor.

O'Hara, who has presented throughout New England, has regaled numerous audiences with a charming mix of wit, humor and grace that will surely please, adding an Irish lilt to both tongue and heart.

Join us for complimentary coffee, tea, cookies and share in the "gift of gab" this Sunday at 4pm at the Unicorn Theatre. A $10 donation is suggested. Reservations can be made by contacting the BTF Box Office at (413) 298-5576 x33.
