A.R.T. to Present THE LILY’S REVENGE, Opening 10/12

By:

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) has announced the company for Obie Award-winning Taylor Mac's five part theatrical event The Lily's Revenge, directed by Shira Milikowsky, with music by Rachelle Garniez. The production begins previews on Friday, October 12, and runs through Sunday, October 28, with press opening on Sunday, October 14 at 2:00pm at OBERON, A.R.T.s Second Stage andclub theater venue.

An unforgettable allegory for love without boundaries, The Lily's Revenge is a collaborative community gathering and multidisciplinary extravaganza that weds dance, film, theater, and music into five unique acts with an ensemble of over thirty performers. The show aims to dismantle established societal rules, traditions and myths; and then, while celebrating the pieces it had pulled apart, rearranges them into the foundation of a new myth with the purpose of inspiring humanity in the here and now.

"The Lily's Revenge offers so many incidental pleasures that theatrical time - always a curiously malleable element - seems to contract. To my happy surprise, I emerged from The Lily's Revenge more refreshed than exhausted.'" – Charles Isherwood (The New York Times)

"This play is not vying for polished immortality; it is living in its moment, which happens also to be ours. Mac's achievement is as ephemeral as a bloom. See it before it fades into nostalgia itself. You are sure to forget it not." -Adam Feldman (Time Out New York)

Taylor Mac leads the cast of local performers playing Lily, a five-petaled flower. Other members include Remo Airaldi as Master Sunflower, Thomas Derrah as The Great Longing, John Kuntz as Poppy, Alexander Cook and Margaret Ann Brady as Flower Girl Deities and Meghan McGeary as Time/Wind/Stepmother. Other cast members incude David Abrams, Raquel Blake, Margaret Ann Brady, Maxwell Butler, Davina Cohen, Alexander Cook, Gene Dante, Samantha Eggers, Marisa Fratto, Teri Gamble, Ara Glenn-Johanson, Megan Hopp, Amen Igbinosun, Samson Kohanski, Adeola Role, Matthew Milo Sergi, Henry Shikongo, Dereks O.
