BOISE PHIL PRESENTS, IN NATURE’S REALM
featuring guest artist, Janice Carissa, piano
Come revel in the vitality of three cornerstone works of the Romantic period.
Coleridge-Taylor’s “Ballade” is an arresting piece that reflects the melodic and harmonic influences of Tchaikovsky and Dvoák. You’ll experience this piece as talented young musicians from the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra take the stage alongside our professional musicians for an exceptional side-by-side performance.
Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 is a groundbreaking piece in the history of piano composition. Composed during Liszt’s ‘virtuoso years,’ this work serves as an inspirational showcase for our guest artists.
Composed simultaneously with the brooding Fifth Symphony, Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony is characterized by the balance of serenity and brightness. Beethoven gave it the title “Pastoral Symphony, or Recollections of Country Life,” reflecting his strong connection to nature. He drew inspiration from his frequent walks in the Viennese countryside. This remarkable masterpiece signifies a sense of communion with humanity as much as it does with nature.
