The Morrison Center announces its signature Velma V. Morrison Family Theatre Series. This series presents an opportunity for families in Boise and throughout the greater Treasure Valley to experience the magic of live, professional entertainment at affordable prices in a one-of-a-kind facility. In three carefully chosen events, parents and children will be astonished, amused, touched, educated and astounded. As the premier performing arts center of Idaho, the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts is committed to providing the community with opportunities to visit the Center in order to introduce the next generation to the magic of theatre. The Family Theatre Series will help provide access and opportunity to those in need at all socio-economic levels via affordable ticket pricing, group and ticket discounts and a limited supply of complimentary tickets to qualified non-profits that served children and families in need.

The Canterville Ghost
Based on the story by Oscar Wilde
Written by Marisha Chamberlain
Sunday, October 20, 2013 · 2:00 PM

Morrison Center Recital Hall
For three centuries, the Canterville Ghost has been perfectly happy rattling chains, clanking armor and generally haunting Canterville. Enter the Otis family - Yankee upstarts with thoroughly modern ideas. Frightening these nonplussed American tenants proves to be not only infuriating but almost impossible for the temperamental British ghost. Yet, through the courageous friendship of one of the young Otis children, the Canterville Ghost finally finds peace. Oscar Wilde's tale is told with whimsical humor and charm.

Rapunzel
Based on the story by The Brothers Grimm

Morty and Marian are expecting their first child. Marian is always hungry and has cravings for rapunzels - radishes - but Morty can only find them in the garden of the witch - who lives next door. The witch catches him stealing from her garden and demands his firstborn be turned over to her to raise - because he is obviously not capable of raising the child being a thief and all. From that fateful night, the story winds into the future and brings us to a tower with a beautiful princess and her amazingly long, braided hair. She has been kept away from the dangers of the world but won't be able to resist the idea of freedom with someone she loves.

Recommended for children of all ages (3 to 103!)
