Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts continues the FREE AT THE KIMMEL offerings this October and November in the Kimmel Center's campus with live monthly FREE Sittin' In Jam Sessions on Wednesdays and FREE PNC Grow Up Great interactive performances for children. The Business of Making Music, a new three-part FREE seminar provides expert guidance to young musicians seeking a foray into networking and understanding management in the music industry. Free at the Kimmel offerings continue to highlight Philly's hottest up-and-coming talents with musical offerings for all ages and invite the community to engage in the arts on multiple levels.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Chagall: Love, War, and Exile, on view through February 2, 2014, The Jewish Museum is presenting a diverse series of programs from October through January. Highlights include a talk by Bella Meyer, granddaughter of Marc Chagall; historian Kenneth Silver, a Chagall exhibition catalogue essayist; and an impressive selection of contemporary painters including Amy Sillman, Peter Doig, Carroll Dunham, Thomas Eggerer, Charlene von Heyl, and David Salle.

The recent government shutdown has taken many government sanctioned programs such as museums and parks, and the historic Ford Theatre is also suffering because of it. It recently released the statement below:

Carrying forward a repute of showcasing world class events, The National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) is all set for a new collaboration with London's British Museum to add to their popular screenings series. A special film titled Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum based on the eponymous exhibition at the British Museum shall be screened on 6th and 7th October, 2013 at the Godrej Dance Theatre.

According to The Mankato Free Press, Inherit the Wind is a fictionalized version of the Scopes Monkey Trial that pit evolution against creationism. All but one of the students were persuaded to drop out of the play due to it's controversial storyline. The students received many emails and letters objecting the play which assisted in persuading them to drop out. According to The Mankato Free Press, on September 16th, the New Ulm Actors Community Theatre board voted to indefinitely postpone the performance because there wasn't enough time to replace the cast before the October premiere.

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's Award-Winning Professional Theatre Company, is pleased to announce the 2013/2014 MainStage Season. Between November 2013 and May 2014, MTC MainStage will present three fully-staged professional productions: 'Master Class,' 'God of Carnage' and 'The Fantasticks.' Who would have thought that The Simpsons would ever make their Broadway debut? Many people did not but Anne Washburn shows that it is definitely their time to shine her play, Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play. This dark, out of the box comedy throws us forward about one century and follows a new civilization that is clumsily stumbling into its future...with a little help from Bart Simpson. Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era can slowly but surely evolve into the mythology of another. Anne Washburn's plays have been featured many times, at different festivals. In 2011, her play A Devil at Noon was featured in the Humana Festival of New American Plays and in 2013, her play Sleep Rock Thy Brain was featured in the festival.

The Actors Fund have been hosting special performances that have been 'thrilling audiences for more than 80 years with an electric energy unlike any other night of theatre'. According to The Fund, what makes a special performance so special is that the Broadway companies happily give their time, talent, and an extra performance to benefit The Actors Fund.
