Anyone in the Dallas area should try to see this production. The world premiere musical is terrific. Not only is story enjoyable for all ages (even adults), but the music is pleasant to listen to and catchy. Humor and emotion shine through in this well-written script. The Broadway seasoned cast does a lovely job presenting this new work. Ayres does a lovely job as the strong Sarah and Kate Wetherhead does a fantastic job with Anna, the teenage daughter of Jacob.
Even if you aren't interested in the story or a family musical, the craftmanship of this production is amazing. The versatile wooden set is stunning and the lighting is beautiful. My favorite moment of the entire production is the moment when Anna and Sarah go swimming in the pond. I don't want to ruin it for you, but they do an amazing job of creating a beautiful scene through lighting and the set.
Trust me,you do not want to miss this exciting production at DTC!
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
