Posted: 2/5/09 at 12:16pmSeth McFarlane, writer, comedian, voice actor and singer of Family Guy fame, is a devotee of the great Broadway musicals, an incredible character actor, and a surprisingly great vocalist. I think it's time he did a show on Broadway, though exactly what part he's perfect for, I don't know.

Seth is a huge Broadway fanatic (think of all the references in his show: the Annie number, Kirk Cameron as Jean Valjean), and has repeatedly expressed interest in a Broadway version of Family Guy. I'd like to see him devote his time and energy to THAT instead of the embarrassing American Dad.
Come on, producers! That's a sure thing in this economy! Look how well Will Ferrell's show is doing! Here, I'll even cast it for you:

And I actually think that American Dad is much, much better than FG as of late.

Ooh, a Broadway version of Family Guy? I can't tell if that would be amazing or horrible... I'd see it either way!
I haven't caught Family Guy in the last few months... I need to make a TV watching schedule for myself. I never even catch 30 Rock when it's on!

turning Family Guy into live-action is probably the worst thing you can do...
that's a terrible idea, Pirag.
what he REALLY should do is create an full length feature musical "special". air it on television, of course, but also sell it as a DVD.
Family Guy should never see the Broadway stage. It would completely lose its humor and charm.
But Seth SHOULD start getting involved in playwriting and, perhaps, some music. He's very talented.

I agree as well, Charleston... A full length feature musical special would be amazing. They could make fun of Broadway while honoring it ala Forbidden Broadway...
But yeah, Family Guy live wouldn't be nearly as great as the TV show unless they did a 39 Steps style show with Seth doing his usual characters...
