A musical about lions directed by an opera director and produced by a mouse.

Or plainly:

A disney musical

Critically, they might not work, but...

Well, not successful yet, but this description is hard to beat for something that "sounds" horrible. From the BroadwayWorld headlines "Brad Oscar to star in (W)Hole."

"In (W)hole, a kiss from the most beautiful woman in the world sinks a simple keysmith into a literal hole from which he cannot escape despite the efforts of his emotionally distant mother, his overbearing boss, and Germany’s leading eccentric quicksand expert.

OK, so we're going to take the King Arthur legend, put a comedy take on it (and a rather absurdist one at that), then add some theatre music.

We'll take a Dickens novel and make a musical. (I leave you to guess which one.)

A musical about people about whores, gays and squatters, some of whom have AIDS. Yes, they sing, dance, and die.

A mother and her mentally retarded daughter leave their North Carolina home to take a vacation in Italy, and the daughter and a young Italian man fall in love and become engaged even though they speak different languages. The mother then frets about whether or not to tell the man and his family about her daughter's condition while contemplating ending her own marriage back at home. Oh, and people sometimes sing the semi-operatic score in Italian without supertitles.

How do those sound "bad"? I mean, that are Gypsy's and Oliver's basic plot lines. They don't necessarily sound bad, just boring.

Well, boring is pretty bad. Nobody is going to pay Broadway prices to be bored.
