I would have made this earlier but I forgot. If there has already been a thread about this please tell me. Did anyone notice when Whoopi was presenting Best musical she said In the Heightsing strange instead of Passing Strange.

"Winning a Tony this year is like winning Best Attendance in third grade: no one will care but the winner and their mom."

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I didn't read the other thread, but to me it sounded like she was just reading the nominees underneath the voiceover.
But if she accidently did announce the winner early, it wasn't a mistake. It's not like she said the wrong show. And when she actually announced it, the reactions showed that if there was a premature mistake, no one at Radio City really heard it.
I think when they read the nominees it is prerecorded. I don't know why they would do that, but the sound is different from when they read the nominees. So with that, I think the sound mixer overlapped her saying Passing Strange and In the Heights.
Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).
I was at the Tonys this year and the presenters read the nominees to the people in the audience but the people on tv heard a pre-recorded version on the nominees. So it just may not have been synced properly.
