I think a female Emcee in Cabaret would work and be extremely sexy.

Dearest, how can this be so? You were dead, you know. - Candide

Oh my god, this show has everything! Half naked guys and girl on girl action! - [title of show]

As far as I know there have been productions when the Emcee is a female, and (correct me if I am wrong) I think the authors originally imagined the Emcee as a woman.

Fiona Shaw played Richard II at the National, which makes me extremely happy, because it means there's a chance the world might be open to me playing Henry V one day. Or not. But it still makes me happy. ^_^

i think that a woman as the emcee in cabaret would definitely work.

it's such a tricky subject b/c there are so many romances in shows that would change a lot if a man/woman played them

Linda Eder in Man of la Mancha!

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott

Personally, I'm a guy who'd love to play Fosca in Passion. "I Read" always hits me. It would be extremely hard but very rewarding.

both times I've been in Midsummer, we've had a woman play Quince, and several mechanical parts were played by women
I was also cast as the female equivelent of Egeus, Egia
There was alittle Mrs. Robinson thing going on w/ Demetrius, which added alot of comedy to it

i would love to direct a gender blind production of "Waiting for Godot"

I've seen a female leading player in Pippin which was interesting, and how about a man, or a teenage boy playing Peter Pan. Hmmm.

Argh I was just about to say a female Leading Player in Pippin, but I was beaten to it.

In my school's production of The Fantasticks this year, we used girls for Hucklebee, Bellomy, & the Mute.

My friend saw Becky Gulsvig play Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar at a youth summer theater years ago and said she was amazing.

What about this: I've always thought that a modern dress Les Mis would be cool. I think it would work too. And if you do set it in current times you could easily make Eponine a guy.

MisterSnow89: I love the idea of a modernized Les Mis! I think, if done right, it could be very, very good. Not sure about the male Eponine, but I see what you're getting at.

I'm a guy, but I would love to able to play Madam Rose. It will never happen, but oh, to get to sing those songs! If I'm ever lucky enough to get to record a solo album, i might toss in a few traditionally female songs for fun ("People," "As If We Never Said Goodbye," and "Everything's Coming Up Roses" come to mind...)

I personally think drag on either gender is sexy. =]

I wouldn't mind seeing a female playing Link Larkin in Hairspray. ;D
