This show is dong well because it is Grease. And for tourists it is a sure fire bet on a good Broadway show.
Keep in mind that tourists like to go with things that they know and don't like to step out of the bubble when it comes spending a ton of money on a Broadway ticket. Other then the Disney shows and Wicked and something like Phantom, Grease is a show that a lot of people know and love. So, they will go and see it.
True, that there are people who had bought tickets just to see Max and Laura in it. True that there were people who watched the reality show just for the sake of watching yet another vote in reality show. But, this show will still continue to play after Max and Laura leave because it is Grease. And, like I said tourists go with what they know when they are spending over 100 bucks on a ticket.

Allison Fisher is a great talent and I'd be interested in seeing her take on the role of Sandy.
Over on the Grease boards there's a debate boiling about which of the rejected contestants will be brought back to fill Max and Laura's shoes. The correct answer to that is - none of them. They've all moved on to better projects. Should Ashley Spencer leave Hairspray where she's getting raves and the producers love her to do Grease? No. Should Austin walk away from Trip of Love to do Grease? No. And I could go on and on here. I pray to God that none of the rejected contestants take the roles. It would be a giant step backward.
And I have to back up Lynne's question about the ingratitude. I've never seen anything of the ilk from either Max or Laura.

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
As far as Sandy being a brunette originally, I saw it in 1976 and it was played by Candice Early (Donna from All My Children) and she was a blonde. Sometimes it was a blonde, sometimes a brunette. But usually a blonde. It DID NOT start being blonde with Olivia Newton John. Sandy was usually a blonde so there would be a contrast with Rizzo, (who always wore a black wig)In fact right after I saw the show (I was 11), I bought the piano music with all the photos of the original cast and was surprised to see the photos of Carole Demas with dark hair. Marilu Henner was also in the cast when I saw it and she wore a blonde wig. (I remember being surprised when she did Taxi and her hair was red). Updated On: 5/13/08 at 10:12 PM
would love to see josh franklin replace max as danny, not sure about sandy though. i think max wont have too many options open after this musical but on the other hand laura has huge talent for the stage and i think she has alot coming to her.
