"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
Currently, I would kill to play Pseudolous from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. I think it has one of the best and creative stories out of any Broadway musical I've heard of and this particular character has me written all over it anyways, I love comedic roles. I've played The Cowardly Lion and Nathan Detroit the last two years at my high school.
It's incredibly tough, and I have to mention the two that would round out my top three, Falsettos and Follies, but for me the perfect melding of book and score, humor and emotion, is A Little Night Music. A show that (as I've seen VERY personally) doesn't even need a particularly talented cast to get across just how brilliant it is.
