Definitely. I think I was standing in almost the exact same spot last Thursday - Anthony signed my playbill over the dumpster, lol.

Has it still been relatively calm at the stagedoor?

Re post of AP love thread:
Last night was electric. I don't know if it was just because I had close seats this time or what, but the show was amazing. They seem to just be getting better. Tyra Banks was sitting a few rows up from us. Adam was being incredibly playful last night. During the beginning of LVB, Justin kept poking his leg every few seconds in that "will you stop that!" kind of way. And Adam just had this big grin on his face. He started ripping the duct tape off the table, and then putting it back on, just weird stuff like that, lol. Later in the song when he is about to walk to the table for the erection line, he put his arm around benny, whispered something in his ear, and stuff. Just odd, but I am the kind of freak that would notice it. Still not a Nicolette fan, but Troy stepped it up big time. Loved him last night. Anthony = perfection as always. I loved being up close and seeing their faces and reactions.

Crowd was annoying. Applauding during songs and over little things. Buzz actually really enjoyed the show. He thought Anthony was really good and loved Justin. He said Adam was good "but too whiny for his taste". I tried to explain that was his character, but whatever.
Stagedoor is 100x better. The new layout really makes a difference (even if I was standing next to a dumpster). I wasn't going to stay but there was a spot right up front so Buzz pushed me towards it. No one pushing, screaming, nothing. At least in our section, we had an assembly line type thing going and everyone was patient. Total turn around from my last experience. D'Monroe, Nicolette, Tamyra, and Anthony came out. No Adam, boo!, but I'll live. Anthony was very sweet, but you could tell very tired! Still he signed and chatted best he could.

My camera died (surprise) so I took pictures with Buzz's blackberry. Came out good but I need to d/l them still.

I went yesterday as well. Here's my, rather lengthy, review:

Yesterday I went to see the matinee showing of Rent with Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal, original cast members, reprising their roles as Mark and Roger.

When Adam first walked on, people burst into applause, and the girl next to my friend started crying. When the rest of the cast, Anthony included, joined him, the applause grew deafening and continued for around 5 minutes, after which Anthony finally got to start the show.

Anthony Rapp: He was excellent as Mark. Whereas Chris Hanke was funny, Anthony was more serious, but it suited him. He was funny as well, but in a more subtle way. Tango: Maureen was great-he and Merle worked well together. La Vie Boheme was amazing, as was Halloween and Goodbye Love. The latter two were just heartbreaking. What You Own was really powerful. Anthony had great chemistry with Adam. His voice was very good and powerful.

Adam Pascal: He exceeded my expectations as Roger, even after all I had read, and there is truly nothing like seeing him perform live. He was definately a great actor, bringing many layers to Roger, and made me feel so much more compassionate for his character. Another Day was amazing, and Light My Candle was very funny and sweet. His chemistry with Tamyra was pretty good and, as said previously, his chemistry with Anthony was great-very natural. He also seemed to have good chemistry with Troy Horne. His voice was so powerful, and his One Song Glory was the best I've ever seen (He didn't go for that high note during the chorus, though.). The fight during Goodbye Love was explosive, and he seemed so broken up and upset during Finale A/Your Eyes. He really connects with the audience. And there were some humorous moments: his "I'm Roger" shuffle and the champaign bottle demonstration of an erection, coupled with a demonic sounding "Eeee!"

Tamyra Gray: Amazing voice and good acting. Her second act was better, especially during Goodbye Love and, as others have said, she really did seem sick during that time. Her Out Tonight was great-maybe not the best in terms of dancing, but powerful. She was also powerful during Another Day, and funny during Light My Candle. Her Without You was the best I've ever heard-full of emotion and sadness. She played the beginning of Finale B, when Mimi first wakes up, differently than others I've seen. It's hard to describe, but it was good.

Troy Horne: I've seen him once before, and he seemed to have good chemistry with Adam and Anthony, though not so much with Justin Johnston (Angel). However, his voice was so powerful during I'll Cover You (Reprise), and so emotional, that I really felt for him. By contrast, I felt he was lacking emotion in Goodbye Love and onward, and it just didn't seem to fit how Collins would feel.

Justin Johnston: I've seen him all three times I've seen Rent, and each time it's been the same performance. He doesn't bring a lot of depth to Angel. His voice is nice, but he tries to get too much laughs. He just annoyed me this time around.

D'Monroe: As Benny, I've never formed an opinion of D'Monroe. The first time I saw him he was good, and the second time the opposite. The second time he seemed to be trying too hard to be "cool". This time his performance was somewhere in between. He certainly came through in Act Two, and was actually very rough with Tamyra during "Happy New Year B". He seemed really angry at "Roger". During Goodbye Love he was also very good.

Nicolette Hart: She was pretty good as Maureen. Her Over the Moon was funny, but a bit rushed. Her voice definitely started to get irritating after awhile, but she was good with Merle. Their Take Me or Leave Me was explosive. She was very energetic.

Merle Dandridge: I believe she was the only Joanne I've ever really liked during the show. Amazing acting and voice on her part, especially during Tango: Maureen. She was great opposite Anthony. And during Take Me or Leave me she was the only Joanne I've ever seen who could top Maureen. I even liked We're Okay, which I'm not fond of, when she performed it. Overall, she was my favorite Joanne.

Afterwards my friends and I stage doored. D'Monroe and Anthony came out. Both were very nice and signed plenty of Playbills. It was pretty crowded, and very hot. I was in the front row, and was being pushed by people behind me. Uncomfortable, but not too out of control.

Overall, that performance of Rent was the best I've ever seen. Adam and Anthony looked good, and sounded amazing. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to see them in their original roles, and would love to see them again, either in Rent or doing their own solo projects. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had, and it feels unreal.

My daughter and I were also at RENT Saturday the 25th, we went for the matinee AND the evening performances, row B both times. (we are actually in the background to MotorTink pixs above!)
All I have to say is I have seen probably close to 1,000 musicals in 20+ years (RENT 9 times), and these performances were the cherries on top. Plain and simple, my favorite theater experiance ever.
I think Adam and Anthony were beyond perfect.
We stayed in Hotel 41 right next door to the theater and when we went back "home" after a hour or so after the evening performance we ran into "Angel" and a few others in our tiny what is supposed to be a lobby, just milling around and pretty talkative. I tried to just "ignore them" and walk to the elevator but they were friendly and as I said great job they started chatting with us. There was a private party in the bar for any of the RENT cast members/crew that want to attend (as they do every Saturday)..and let me tell yah, that was hard to take the elevator up to my room when I so wished I could go in there and join them!

aw - I saw some people tonight go into 41 after the show too. I'll bet it was hard to resist breaking into that party re: Welcome Home Rapp & Pascal

When Adam first walked on, people burst into applause, and the girl next to my friend started crying.

For some reason I just reread this and found it really funny. Probably because it's almost 3 am

Why do i think now that has been posted on here about Bar 41, it will be mobbed with obsessed fans? re: Welcome Home Rapp & Pascal

I really don't get the crying thing. I remember being giddy over things, but crying???? They have a troublesome life ahead of them, lol.

Bar 41 wont be full of fans, it is closed to the public during these times (on Saturdays it closes at 4 and on Sundays since RENT is dark the abr isnt even open) and the hotel only has about 30 rooms and you are more or less checked when you walk in that you ARE staying there when the bar is closed (there is nothing but a bar and the guest rooms so no need for the public to be inside). The lobby is a tiny maybe 12X15 room and there isnt anywhere for the public to "hang out" when the bar is closed. The 41 bar has always been a meeting place for RENT cast/crew...this isnt new since Adam and Anthony came back.

Why did this re-post this? Isn't this from last year?

Or does this mean they are back to do the show tomorrow?
