If it's someone from the tour, and it's not Julia Murney (and I'm not convinced it isn't her...money talks, you know), then it is probably Victoria Matlock.

Did you Julia sing? While it was very good, she had a lot of verbrado (Spelling?) that just drove me up the wall.

Mandy isn't available b/c she is going to star in a new off-broadway musical this spring! :)

Yes, of course, I heard Julia sing. And she does have a very unique vibrato. But no need to call her a goat. Why does every thread have to turn into some kind of bashing?

I was going to jokingly say Kristy Cates, but a few of you suggested her for real.

Don't you all think it's time she left the show? She's been with Wicked since it opened--she's probably so bored with it.

Wicked needs to stop recycling cast members--I'm now understanding why people get frustrated when they do this. They should let new people take on the role. They need to keep the show fresh so that its energy is as good as it was when it opened. Last time I saw the show on Broadway (July 2005), the ensemble was HORRIBLE--all unfocused. The people had probably been doing the show for too long.

I, personally, would give ANYTHING to see Diana DeGarmo as Elphaba. I know she wants to create her own role sometime soon--but she would totally make me make a trip up to NYC just to see her. She would blow the roof off the Gershwin! re: The next Elphaba?

I don't know...the recycling doesn't bother me so much. I like seeing people promoted to different companies.

Lisa Brescia would be a standout Elphaba.

Okay I just listened to some clips of Victoria Matlock and there is no way they are going to bring her to Broadway...

I know from a friend of Julia Murney's that she is the next Elphaba after the 13 weeks with Ana.

Julia Murney is the only Elphaba who actually looks like the Margaret Hamilton Wicked Witch we are so used to seeing from the big screen. Her "I'm not that girl" is spectacular to watch. Just look at her face. I think she is superb.

me3, i'm having a hard time taking your post seriously. not just because it's the typical he said she said from a friend of that person thing which is how rumors always tend to start, but because you can't even spell julia's last name right.

Julia Murney is the only one who could bring me back to that show.

(Although I may have said that about Ana...but I am serious about Julia.)

I actually think Eden Espinosa when she sings looks the most like Margaret Hamilton...

Julia Murney is a wonderful actress. Vocally, she is much more legit than most of the other women who have played the role, but frankly I think it might be a really refreshing change for the Broadway production. It certainly feels like a much more grown up story with her in the lead.

ashley, it means that they're very rude and don't know how to respect other people. that's what it means.

Julia played Elphaba from March to September of this year, after Stephanie. She's done Wild Party, Class Act, Lennon, etc.

I know from a friend of Julia Murney's that she is the next Elphaba after the 13 weeks with Ana.

That's obviously well-founded and based on fact.

EDIT: Softershade beat me to it.

I just listened to some "clips" of both Victoria Matlock and Maria Eberline, two standbys (?) for the tour, and all I can say is I think the producers can definitely do much better than these two in looking for someone to promote...

Julia would be be willing to do the role again? Didn't she struggle with it on the road, and end up doing a six show week?

I agree with Parks about wanting Diana DeGarmo to play Elphaba but I doubt she'll follow Ana. Ana's finishing up in January and Diana doesn't finish up as Penny in Hairspray until mid February. Maybe she'll be in line for the role after that, or sometime in 2008. However, if I were the producers of the Wicked touring production I'd try to snap her up for that as soon as possible. Her voice is so perfect for the role that I almost think her age isn't a factor.

I don't mind Victoria Matlock. She has a very youthful sound, but I like it.

Maria Eberline, however, I am not a fan of.

I think they're gonna finally use a male to play the female leads ...

or maybe they can have more older women play the part of 20 year olds...

When is broadway gonna realize that they really have no real star to put in the show after Idina left ... how come I haven't heard of most of these people before Wicked? With an exception of Shoshona (so?) Bean ... who the heck are these ladies? With the people they're casting, why am I not in the show?
