Well...

I saw the show.

Got there about 9:45 am - BO opened at 10 - got my ticket - second row center! amazing! (first is too close).

I was, maybe, 20 ppl back? Don't think they all got rush though.

Question. I am thinking of rushing TCP on a Sunday. I understand that the box office opens at 12 on Sundays. Will they start selling rush tickets at 12pm? If I get there at 11am, will that be far enough in advance? Is it two tickets per person or one? Thanks so much!

never mind...just found this info on talkinbroadway:

Subject to availability, a limited number of tickets are sold at the box office on the day of the performance. Tickets go on sale for matinee performances when the box office opens, and for evening performances at noon. The tickets are $26.25 each and 2 tickets are sold per person. The seats are usually located in the front two rows of orchestra.

wat, i went last sunday. the box office opens at 12, and it's 2 tickets per person. however, i got there at 10 am and would say that no one that got there after 10:15 got a rush ticket (at least in the front 2 rows). now depending on the reviews tonight and more importantly oprah's appearance on the letterman show the lines for the rush are going to be getting insanely long. this being said i don't think even 10 am will cut it anymore. so i would try and go very early if i were you.

I sat fourth row on the right. I want to see it again when I am back in New York at least 10 rows back. It is such a big show that the 1st two rows seem to be too close. JMO

with all these positive reviews and oprah's appearance last night on letterman, and it being a saturday, it really couldn't hurt blu. if you don't mind spending the time i would just to be sure. because if you're in the front, you'll get them. because it's first come first serve rather than lottery.

My report on TCP Rush...Saturday matinee...

I got there at about 8:45am...there were two people on line ahead of me, between then and 9:30 there were two or 3 stragglers...then at about 9:30 there was a rush of people which basically accounted for all the tickets..I believe everyone got them...

Show was amazing...I enjoyed the front row seats, theres a little ledge right in front of them which performers walk and dance across and it rather makes you feel like your in the show and remiss for not doing the choreography...

La Chanze was out...

It was cold...

The end by Blucat500...

no, it'll be noon. blu! what did you think of the show? and namely kenita? i have a feeling lachanze is not going to be performing matinees on days when there is an evening show. being sick and the vocal demands of this score.

I adored it...There was so much energy, and it was so much funnier than one would expect...

It was my first time ever sitting front row at a show so that was a thrill, and the choreography was so energetic and joyful , it was such a huge spectacle yet still managed to maintain substance...

Kenita was fantastic and took the journey from 14 to old age flawlessly...I was bummed that I didn't get to se Lachanze, but not because I was dissappointed in Kenita's performance, she has a really strong voice, simply because I prob won't get a chance to revisit the show and see Lachanze...

The score was equally wunderbar, I'm not a fan of Gospel in general, and on the sampler I didn't particularly enjoy "Push da Button," but live it was all just so powerful it defied genres...

haha that all came out more pretentious sounding and long winded than I meant it to be...so in summation I liked it re: A NOTE ON THE COLOR PURPLE RUSH POLICY *ahem* especially compared to "In My Life" which I also saw yesterday hehe

oh good! i'm so glad you enjoyed it. but keep in mind that if you do get a chance to revisit the show when lachanze is performing, you do now know how to do it cheaply and for great seats, right!

but tell me, i was right and it was worth the 3 hours in the cold?

my only mistake was i forgot to go to the bathroom beforehand, so i stood there for 2.5 hours waiting/needing to go to the bathroom. it was excruciating.

The cold really didn't set in until the last 20 minutes, it was the home stretch that really killed me

...but I was with someone so one of us could dart to the bathroom or go grap coffee periodically when we needed to...

And the fact I had to wake up at 5:30 AM to catch the train to get there on time was a bit tough...

But it really was all worth it...I'd recommend it to anyone!
