I'm headed of to NYC in about 8 days and I found a restaurant called Jekyll & Hyde in Greenwich village and I was wondering if any of you had ever gone there? Any & all reviews are appreciated.

I ate there once about 6 or 7 years ago (though I think it was another location...don't seem to recall the one I went to being in the Village, though I've walked past it many a time). I wasn't overly impressed from what I remember. It seemed more like a tourist trap than anything else. Average food, high prices, and the whole theme/motif going on wasn't as fun as it looked from the outside.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

No prob...It was a while ago, but I remember it looking like it would be really fun (they've got a car that drives around the city w/ some skeletons on the back and stuff) but the restaurant itself was kind of a disappointment. Maybe some others who've been more recently can chime in to give you an idea as to whether or not that's still the case.

I've gone twice, once when I was little and once last year. Both times (although I don't remember the first time, but my mom told me) the food is just mediocre and really overpriced. There really isn't any good entertainment in there and the service both times was terrible. The second time I went the service was so terrible that we didn't have to pay for the whole bill. I really wouldn't suggest going here. If you're a tourist and you want someplace special, I much prefer the Hard Rock Cafe. Mars 2112 is fun as well.

The J&H restaurant uptown is better than the one in the Village. It's more popular, and fun from what I hear.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

The one uptown is the one I had a terrible experience at but yes, the uptown one is bigger than the one downtown.

I was there about 8 years ago and returned about 6 years ago b/c I had such a great time- we went after dinner both times for drinks. Two years ago, we walked through the village and spoke to someone who worked there (I asked whether it was still fun). He said it has changed a lot and said it has become a very alternative place- something about fetishes... not quite sure. He recommended the other J and H to us (we didn't end up going to either).

KIDS Stay away from that place.
It is a tourist trap. The food is disgusting. The prices are high.
There are so many wonderful restaurants in this City.
J and Hyde is not a great place.
I ate there many years ago as some friends from out of town wanted to go there. They have a terrible show, Igor kept bothering me and the food was awful.
Stay away.

I went to the one on 57th street. Creepy place.
Better options in the Village:
Italian- Cucina STAGLIONE off of West 4th. They have a great early bird menu. A three course meal with a glass of wine, coffee and Tiramusu for $11.00 from 5-7.
The salmon is outstanding and it comes with pasta. The homemade sauce is very good.
Other great places:
Sushi Samba
Fiddlesticks- Great brunch.

no, don't go to J&H if what you want is a great meal. i've been to the uptown one and enjoyed seeing the space, and how they turned it into a four-floor spooky bar/restaurant. the "entertainment" is designed for kids, and it's really a kid's restaurant for parents who have money to burn. but i had fun acting like a kid there for a couple of hours and exploring my inner ghoul re: Jekyll & Hyde Restaurant in the Village

When i went i thought it was awesome. It's like a rainforest cafe just jekyll and hyde theme. It was cool. I was 7 at the time too. What i remember the service wasnt to bad and the entertainment was really awesome.

I don't really remember there being any entertainment. The extent of it seemed to be that they had the lights off (or practically off) to make it seem spooky, though really, all it did was make it a bitch to read the menu...though, that's probably what they want, so you can't see how ridiculously expensive it is for what you get!

I think Fiddlesticks occupies what was once known as Uncle Charlie's?
