Ok, this is really getting at me. My birthday is comming up in a couple months, and I've decided to see a broadway show for my birthday. I've narrowed it down to two shows, Rent or Spamalot. I'm not sure which to see, I mean, I've seen Rent bootlegged, and and I have the soundtrack, but Spamalot just opened and I am a major Python fan. I mean, you also get bragging rights of seeing it when it first opened on broadway. I'm not so sure I like the current Rent cast, but I do love Rent. You may say, "Go see both." I would, except for the fact that I am broke, and am only recieving tickets to one of these shows as a present.
So, give me opinions on which I should go to. Reviews of the current shows would be great as well.
It also depends on when you are planning to go. If it is coming up in the next couple of months, you may not be able to get tickets for soldout Spamalot.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
go to whichever you can get tickets for. Spamalot is sold out for a bunch of dates, heck it's even sold out for most of June (at least the few days I'm there) so if you want Spamalot get tickets now or check telecharge to see if they are available for the date you wanna go.
RENT is great live so either way you won't be disappointed!
You're always sorry,
You're always grateful,
You hold her, thinking:
"I'm not alone."
You're still alone.

I'd say Spamalot, simply because if someone else is paying for your tickets, its better to mooch the money for a newer show. Then when you have a little more money, its easier to find half price tickets to Rent.
my vote is also for spamalot and totally for the monetary reason everyone else is talking about. :) i saw rent for free and actually there are ways to get around paying a lot or even at all for shows that have been running for awhile.
LOL lizzy
judas is that you in the pic? you look so young what are you turning? lol
The only reason I'd say RENT is because I'm a huge RENThead but I've also heard wonderful things about Spamalot so the idea of whichever one you can get tickets to sounds pretty good to me. :-P Anyways, whicever one you go see, make sure to leave a review for us here!
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.
